Camps in 45240 Zip Code
Types of Camps

The long summer months are prime camp time for adults and children alike. Whether you are planning a calm family retreat in the woods or your children are off for an overnight adventure or band camp, you will find many different options to choose from. Several options are listed below.

  • Day Camp – This type of camp only lasts through the day, usually for a week or more. Boot camps and athletic camps like basketball and soccer are typically day camps because you need the sun to play sports. Their programs are usually more limited than sleepaway camps, but they generally cost less. Recently, day camps focusing on technology like programming and gaming have become quite popular.
  • Overnight Camp – These are the traditional summer camps, where kids leave for roughly two weeks and spend their time together with counselors exploring many different activities. Often these camps have a wide variety of programs, from horseback riding to playing sports to swimming to even studying academics. These camps are more expensive and you need to be sure your child is comfortable leaving you for that length of time.
  • Specialty Camps – Camps with a particular focus. Some examples are music and band camps, or school sponsored sports camps like football or basketball. Often the athletic camps are more like boot camps, preparing athletes for the beginning of the season and may or may not require some overnight stays.
  • Retreats – Camps for adults. These often stress relaxation by staying close to nature and typically require an overnight stay.
  • Religious Camp – Any of the above camps can be sponsored by a religious group. Many religious camps for children are similar to traditional summer camps, only additional activities take place, such as time for worship and prayer.
