Arcades in 36265 Zip Code
As games have changed over the years, so has the definition of an arcade. The first arcades contained a variety of games of skill and chance such as pinball, fortune telling and ski ball. The cost of these games was often a penny and they could be commonly found along beach town boardwalks and at carnivals and fairs. When introduced in the mid -1970s, video games became popular and overtook the traditional arcade games. Video arcades were very popular in the mid-1980s but saw a decline when the home video console was introduced. Today there are few free-standing video arcades. They can typically be found, with relatively few machines, in movie theaters, restaurants and hotels.
