What Do You Provide at Your Facility?
Aside from round the clock medical supervision, rehab services and medication administration, nursing homes with skilled nursing care feature health and wellness programs, recreation activities, full meals and snacks, and personal services, such as assistance with personal grooming and hair care. Amenities may include private rooms, common areas for playing games and watching TV, full service dining rooms, beauty centers, and outdoor courtyards and trails for plenty of exercise opportunities.
Can I Take a Guided Tour of the Nursing Home?
Nursing home directors would be happy to take you on a guided tour of their facility. Some websites even feature virtual tours online. Make sure you check out all areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas, dining rooms and outdoor areas. Ask to speak with the head nurse about medicine, the physical therapist about rehab services and the social director about community programs and on-site programs that your loved one may find fun.
Do You Offer Hospice?
As part of their services, many nursing homes do offer hospice and end of life care. You can register for hospice in the facility or elect to have hospice come to your home to care for your loved one in his or her final days.
